The subterranean kitchen feels like a luxurious railroad car and features an open theatre-like kitchen that adds to the unique experience. The inventive and innovative take on French gourmet cuisine features an extensive menu that includes poached langoustine and veal sweets with roast cauliflower and harissa.

My husband and I had a 4-course lunch with an additional cheese course and several “surprises.” We were served by a single server who was very accommodating and gracious. The pacing of dishes was very comfortable, and the meal lasted for about 2-1/2 hours. We enjoyed sweetbreads as the meat course, and the desserts were remarkable: crème brûlée, vanilla ice cream, cake with almonds and rum, sugared almonds, and sablé cookies. 7 and 10-course options are available for those who want an even more indulgent experience.

This fantastic restaurant in Saint Germain des Prés is led by renowned chef Stéphane Jego. The chef is known for his unique subtle tweaks on an otherwise traditional French, taking inspiration from rich and earthy dishes from a southern French farmhouse.

The staff was incredibly helpful in assisting us to pick out a wine that was within our budget and ended up being superb. We even ended up having two bottles for the four of us.

The appetizers were delicious – pate, which came in a pan the size of a meatloaf, and white asparagus cooked to perfection. For the main course, we had roasted chicken and a fish dish. Both were incredibly well-prepared and incredibly tasty.

For dessert, we had the deconstructed rice pudding that we had seen on the television show. It was a unique and flavorful rice pudding that we all absolutely loved.

We could see the chef working hard in the kitchen during the meal, just as he did on the show. It was clear that he loved what he does. We highly recommend this restaurant and all of the wonderful dishes it has to offer.

Kitchen Galerie Bis is a Michelin Star restaurant in Saint Germain des Prés, where its young chefs take pride in their vibrant and inventive French cooking. The minimalist, gallery-style dining starts with an array of cocktails, followed by a series of Asian and contemporary French cuisines that vary constantly.

We were lucky enough to get in after being waitlisted. It is worth noting that the restaurant is situated in a beautiful part of the city, so it is recommended to arrive early and take a walk around, perhaps having a cocktail or two to embrace the atmosphere.

We both opted for the 7-course tasting menu tailored to our dietary preferences. The dishes were amazing and flavourful, each one carefully presented and thoughtfully composed. We had a truly memorable dining experience and would recommend it to anyone. The service was exceptional, with staff being able to provide assistance in multiple languages. Altogether, it was our best meal in Paris.

st germain des prés great food

Prunier Victor Hugo is a Saint Germain restaurant located in the iconic neighborhood near the Arc de Triomphe.

It is one of the best restaurants in Saint Germain des Prés with a rich history. Established in 1872, it was the first establishment in Paris to prepare and sell French caviar and introduced the oyster bar concept, champagne by the glass, and home delivery by bicycle. Today Prunier is still a world-renowned seafood restaurant, with its menu signed off by Yannick Alleno, a Michelin-starred chef with six stars in his career.

We recently had the pleasure of dining at Prunier as part of our month-long tour of France, focusing on the best the country had to offer in terms of cuisine. We were welcomed warmly and seated in the ground floor dining room, but after expressing my interest in seeing the upstairs dining room, one of the staff kindly accompanied me. On seeing the room I preferred, we were immediately moved there, and the service throughout the night was warm and attentive.

The menu provided a lot of options, so we decided to order a la carte instead of sticking to the menu. We were delighted with the signature Oeuf Christian Dior, a luxurious dish with an unexpected layer of caviar. The Salmon Yves St Laurent and Sole Meunier were both outstanding, and the sole was artfully deboned tableside.

Prunier Victor Hugo is a fantastic choice for a special evening out, offering innovative cuisine steeped in Parisian tradition. We highly recommend it and thank the friendly and professional staff for their outstanding service.

saiint germain resaurants with good food

We decided to visit L’Huîterie Régis, a restaurant and upscale bar in Saint Germain des Prés, after being recommended to enjoy the French oysters. We arrived just 15 minutes after opening time, and the restaurant was almost full, which was a good sign. We ordered a dozen of the Special oysters, a dozen of king prawns, a dozen of clams, and a bottle of wine. The oysters were incredibly fresh, creamy, and sweet to the palate; even my friend, who had never tried oysters before, became a fan.

L’Huîterie Régis serves seafood platters, oysters & top-tier natural wines, in a cozy dining room or outdoor tables. The seafood is shipped daily from the coastal part of France, Normandy, and Brittany. Their selection is quite limited, offering only seafood, especially oysters and shrimp. Seafood is not cheap and even more expensive in the middle of the city, but the quality of the oysters is worth it. Do not forget to try their smoked scallops and their runny chocolate tart for dessert.
