ACCOMMODATION IN BUDAPEST: LOVELY AIRBNB IN THE HEART OF TOWN
Before leaving for #Budapest, I was quite indecisive on where I wanted to stay given the average nightly cost of a hotel was relatively inexpensive. This meant that my options were multiplied and ultimately made it more difficult to choose and narrow down my options.
Since I was traveling solo, I strongly considered staying at a hostel and being the creepy 30 something year old hanging out with the younger millenials. :/
But then I checked #AirBnb and found this gem. I think I confirmed within 2 minutes after seeing the ad considering the value, location, and cleanliness of the apartment were all 110%!!
NEIGHBORHOOD/LOCATION:
Location is on point! The apartment is a two-minute walk from Danube river and the Great Market Hall and about a 25 minute walk from the Hungarian Parliament and the Chain Bridge. If you are not up for the walk, there is the charming yellow tram that can take you there in about 10 minutes (line 2).
SECURITY:
The building and the apartment are well secured. I didn’t have much to worry as I felt safe the whole entire time I was in Budapest.
HOST:
Anyone who ends up booking this particular AirBnb will be extremely lucky with having a host as accommodating and helpful as David. He was lightning quick to respond to any questions I had and arranged my transportation from the airport to his place (David arranged a private taxi upon my arrival – there is no train from the airport to the city center and the bus is rather complicated. I paid 7000 forint which is roughly 25 euros).
Upon my arrival, I was greeted by his girlfriend and gave me some excellent pointers to see during my stay in Budapest.
ATMOSPHERE:
Felt very homey. High ceiling and spacious rooms was an added bonus. Great décor to boot!
CLEANLINESS:
Super clean!
FACILITIES:
Ok, the only thing I would make a comment on is the lack of shower curtain. Given my size, you can probably imagine the water splashing all over while I shower.
THE SPACE:
As I mentioned earlier, every room in the apartment is big and spacious with high ceiling. I was traveling solo but you could easily fit two or three more people in there with no problem.
Overall experience:
I highly recommend where I stayed – not only you get a great host but the location and value ($35 USD a night) of the apartment can’t be beat.
